Cuevana Streaming Site Shut Down by ACE?

cuevana shut down

Reports suggest that the well-known streaming platform Cuevana may have been shut down by ACE.

ACE, also known as the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment, is an international organization committed to combating piracy and has been critical in shutting down multiple unauthorized streaming sites.

The Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE) is a global anti-piracy organization that is responsible for shutting down hundreds of pirate streaming sites.

When it comes to IPTV services, streaming applications, and streaming platforms, users have thousands of verified and unverified options to pick from.

Being difficult to determine which streaming apps/sites possess the required licenses for their content, reports from ACE play a crucial role in informing visitors about the legitimacy of various streaming websites.

Cuevana Shut Down

It seems that Cuevana, a widely recognized streaming website under ACE’s watch, has met its end. The website was operated from Peru.

Cuevana Shut Down

As per reports, ACE has successfully brought down 22 domains linked to Cuevana, a heavily utilized pirate streaming site in South America.

The enforcement actions targeted a Peruvian operator responsible for this particular version of Cuevana, which had amassed hundreds of millions of visits over time.

Nevertheless, another active Cuevana website still exists, highlighting the persistent challenge faced by anti-piracy organizations in their efforts to combat these illegitimate activities.

Cuevana Website

Cuevana first garnered the attention of piracy organizations in 2009. Originally established by Tomas Escobar, an engineering student from Cordoba, Argentina, Cuevana aimed to provide a streaming experience similar to Netflix, but without subscription fees and with an extensive content library.

This model rapidly attracted millions of users, prompting copyright holders to initiate enforcement campaigns against the site. However, the original Cuevana site is no longer owned by Escobar.

Since Escobar’s departure, various aspiring operators have emerged, resulting in the proliferation of different iterations of Cuevana over the past decade. These variants include domain variations like Cuevanahd, Cuevana2, and Cuevana3.

These different iterations of Cuevana have consistently been a cause for concern for the film industry, often appearing on the U.S. Trade Representative’s list of notorious pirate sites.

In its most recent summary, the USTR stated, “Cuevana is the most popular piracy site in the Spanish-speaking Latin America region, providing access to over 7,000 unlicensed movies and television shows.”

Cuevana Operators Based in Peru

Two years ago, ACE achieved a significant milestone when they sent a cease-and-desist letter to the Chilean operators of a Cuevana portal, resulting in its closure.

However, this victory was somewhat incomplete, as Cuevana3.io, the primary domain at the time, remained operational.

Despite Hollywood’s ongoing efforts to shut down various Cuevana3 domains, the site managed to stay online by constantly switching from one domain to another.

the site managed to stay online by hopping from one domain to another.

Recently, ACE made a significant breakthrough in their anti-piracy efforts. They successfully identified the operator behind Cuevana3.ai in the Piura District of Peru, leading to the eventual shutdown of the site.

Visitors to domains controlled by this operator are now redirected to ACE’s “Watch Legally” page. The operation resulted in the seizure of 22 domains, which collectively received more than 100 million visits between March and May of this year.

However, the challenge remains. While ACE managed to neutralize the threat posed by Cuevana3.io, another Cuevana site, Cuevana3.ch, has emerged and attracted over 110 million visits in the past three months.

This situation demonstrates the ongoing struggle faced by anti-piracy organizations, highlighting the difficulty of permanently shutting down these piracy sites and underscoring the resilient and ever-adapting nature of digital piracy.

It will be interesting to see the ultimate fate of the operators behind Cuevana.

We are also curious to know which pirate streaming sites will be targeted by ACE next. We will continue to keep our visitors informed of the latest streaming news as soon as information becomes available.

This is not the first time we have witnessed ACE and other anti-piracy authorities shutting down notable streaming sites.
